Welcome to the second of our newly reinstated R29 Newsletters. These are issued on alternate months to the Quin and focus on what is coming up rather than describing what’s been happening.
So our events calendar has filled up nicely and we have at least one sizable event happening every month for the next few months. This is not counting ride-outs which continue whenever someone posts them. Thanks must go to the members who are arranging/hosting these events, so let’s show this by supporting them; if you’ve not come along before, just contact anyone of the committee who’ll be happy to meet up with you.
5th – 7th July: H-DRCGB Region 4 The Lakes Rally, Kirby Lonsdale. This is a firm favourite for R29 including Hawaiian shirt night and a number of us will be traveling up together. If anyone wants to join us on the ride up the Kirkby Lonsdale Trish n Jon Fanthorpe are leaving (Under) Jct 7 of M54 at 10:00 Friday morning 5th July, heading to Mile End Services Oswestry. We’ll leave Mile End at 11:20 and drop into McDonalds Chirk which we’ll leave at 11:55 heading for Chester Services off Jct 14 of the M56. This will be a longer break and we’ll leave here at 13:15 and do the last 88 miles in one hit aiming to be at the Rugby Club by 15:00.
20th July: Benllech, Anglesey, Ride and Camp. This hosted by Tich, Arwel and Steve from North Wales. A great ride-out to Anglesey, leaving Telford at 10.00, from (Under) Jct 7 of M54 picking up members en-route and meeting up with North Wales members for the ride onto Anglesey. Details of meeting points to follow. There we have a night’s camping at The Golden Sunset Camp site, Benllech, with sea views, nearby pubs and shops and plans for a ride around the island and a BBQ. It’s £8 per person to camp and we’ll club together for the BBQ and breakfast on site. Ride home via a different route on the 21st. Let us know you are coming so we can plan for the numbers – via the Events Tab on R29 Facebook or text Trish.
3rd and 4th August: Llanbikefest Llangollen Pavilion. Our Region is representing H-DRCGB at this event by manning the Club stand and promoting the Club (and our Region of course). We will have a number of our own bikes on the stand too so come along to a great event and say Hello to us.
18th August: Trawfynydd Lakes Café Meet Up and Ride Out. Andrew Sutherland has arranged a Meet n Ride at 11am at Traws Cafe LL41 4DT, Trawsfynydd. Choice of 2 rides after a late breakfast or just a cuppa. Watch for posts and updates for meet ups en-route.
31st August: Bikes, Beers and BBQ and Bala Bunkhouse. Very kindly hosted by Jane and Guy Williams, this is a ride out to Bala and then ‘bunk up’ after an evening of chat, music, beer and BBQ. Please bring your sleeping bag and the BBQ food you want cooked. It’s £5 per person to cover the cost of Sunday’s breakfast, with any profit given to charity. If you want to arrive on the Friday night, Jane and Guy will welcome you at no extra cost. Let us know you are coming so we can plan for the numbers – via the Events Tab on R29 Facebook or text Trish 07802 791297.
20-22nd September: H-D C ‘t Centrum: This is the 50th anniversary of this rally, held in Netherlands. A large contingent of the Region is attending but it’s unlikely there are any ferry berths left if you haven’t already booked.
28th September: End of Summer Party at Ludlow Brewery. Hosted by Jon Hirst and Chris Alker a definite date for your diaries, bring the better half. £7.50 gets you entrance, live music, a free pint of brewed on site beer, and a hog roast bap, all in a unique venue in a charming market town. This is a ticket-only event, only available to members and their families. Numbers are limited so get yours now from Denise Glyn Pearson, Trish Fanthorpe, Jon Hirst or via any committee member; pay via PayPal: email@example.com, with “Ludlow” and your name in the note.
We are looking for ideas for autumn now – let us know what you what to do.

A few people make suggestions for rallies and road trips that we haven’t done before, if you want help in getting any of them organised, the committee members will more than happy to help.
It’s nice to get a wide range of contributions to the Harleyquin, but if you don’t do it, it can’t get in, if you don’t tell us, it can’t get in! So get out there and tell us about it – even better, save a few photos that don’t go on Facebook so they can premier in the Harleyquin. Do a write up for us, or send us a few notes and we’ll draft it. Send them directly to Glyn or Trish.
